“As a community, we welcomed the “head of the year” on Rosh Hashanah (sundown of September 16 this year) and in fact changed the date on our Statement of Faith from Tishrei 5772 when we officially organized ourselves as Sinai 6000, to 5773. We find nothing wrong with celebrating with the world which goes by the Gregorian calendar that reckons this year as 2013 on the first day of its first month named after Janus the Roman god. [www.pantheon.org/”January Named after the Roman god of beginnings and endings Janus (the month Januarius)”].”
In fact we will most likely celebrate with our Chinese friends on their new year date. Its like having several birthday parties when you’re not sure on what date you were born. . . or something like that.
A Happy New Gregorian Year to one and all!
